Post-Treatment Care For Your Lip Blush

Following these guidelines will help ensure your permanent makeup heals evenly, retains color beautifully, and gives you the best possible results.

Why Aftercare Matters

Full lip color procedures are especially sensitive to poor aftercare. Any pigment applied along the lip line or mouth area can become discolored if not treated properly during healing.

Understanding Lip Tissue

Lips are unique. They’re constantly exposed to:

  • Salts and acids in food and drinks

  • Bacteria found naturally in saliva

These agents can lighten or discolor pigment that hasn’t fully healed. Using a high-quality healing balm is critical to protecting your new color.

How to Apply Balm

To help your lips heal beautifully:

  • Apply your healing balm generously before and after eating or drinking anything other than water (including coffee, tea, soda, and other beverages).

  • After eating, wash the lip liner area gently and pat dry before reapplying the balm.

  • Keep your balm handy throughout the day so you can reapply as needed.

Special Care at Bedtime

At night, balm can mix with saliva while you sleep, which may cause pigment discoloration around the corners of your mouth. To reduce this risk, apply a light but even layer of balm before bed and try to minimize smudging during sleep.

The Bottom Line

Consistent, careful aftercare is the best way to protect your new lip color and ensure smooth, even healing. By taking these steps, you’re setting your lips up for long-lasting, beautiful results.
